Just Be it !
Maintaining a blog is a sure way to forge an online identity if you are serious to establish yourself on the World Wide Web.
It is easy to fake an identity, hiding behind a user name and run amok in your verbal actions as if you will never hurt anyone like you could in the real world.
But if you have a blog that runs for years, you are guaranteed to have international alibis - people who follow your blog for a long period of time, who reads and follows your life over the entire period. They will attest to your personality - good or bad.
The blog is a personal space where you can write whatever you want people to see you as (not necessarily your true self). But it's ironic how someone could pretend to have another personality when he or she is not in real person. Think about it: if you knew how to pretend to have another personality, why can't you be that person in real life? If you 'pretend' to be nice to people in blogs, wouldn't that be convenient to be just that person in real life?
So seriously, don't pretend. Just be who you are in blogs. Write what you feel, say what you think. Don't you think so too ?

NDP 2008'
Woo they did sing my One People One Nation after all, albeit not the whole song. But it's still the most kuakuakua parade I've seen. From make-up to costumes to props to the whole supposed forefathers thingie.
My favourite was the Teochew wayang aunty whose 'feeler' dropped out, and the four big lady singers who proved that big girls still rock.
*****
I think I am watching the lousiest NDP ever.
What happened to all my cheesy ching chong authentic National Day songs that always made my hair stand in full-fledged patriotism? The whole idea of a National Day song is to fill people's hearts with unwavering hope and confidence that the country is your home and your future is here blah blah leh. Jacinta's rendition of We Are Singapore is so lembek (not her fault per se) I don't see no lion roaring lor - kitty mewing more like it. Not to mention how disrespectful it is to the original songwriters lor. People spend so much effort coming up with all these patriot songs then you go and change until so lembek and niang. Foreigners hear already bu xiao si cai guai. This is not the way to showcase talents lor! I am of course happy our little dot-of-a-country has talents that can write beautiful harmonies but not at the expense of my ooomphy Count On Me Singapore or We Are Singapore!
I used to tear whenever they sang all these National Day songs leh. I don't care if they played the songs from tape and it's not the choir singing (which brings me to the next topic of when are they going to treat these choir people like humans and give them some costumes and props that are actually befitting for a performing choir at a grand event as such), but it's these songs that I grew up with and now I don't even get to hear it proper for even one time lor. National Day songs are supposed to make you feel so high and make you unpaisehly bellow along at the top of your cracked voice until your veins throb in your forehead!
I still say Stef Sun's We Will Get There is the best National Day theme song to date. Even now when it comes on in my iPod I will still feel fuzzy listening to it. Kit Chan's Home comes very close to it lah just that I'm more of a RAHRAHRAH HOYHOYHOY person when it comes to National Day.
(My parents are huddling at the window watching the planes fly pass with the flag.)

The DARK KNIGHT RETURNED !
After almost 2 weeks of the islandwide theatrical release, I finally watched the Batman sequel, The Dark Knight, today.
I've read so many blogs about how good Heath Ledger is. I felt that his performance is overrated, partly because he didn't hog the screen time a lot. No doubt he portrayed The Joker excellently, but that is what good actors do. In comparison, I would very much prefer this year's Oscar winner for supporting actor, Javier Bardem, in his villain role for "No Country For Old Men", and felt his acting is more impactful, partly because of his extensive screen time.
The plot of The Dark Knight feels a lot like the Die Hard series, where the good guy has to crack riddles or solve dilemmas plotted by the villain in such an inconceivably flawless way.
But I took home another more important lesson that is the soul of the Batman comic's essence. And that is how a futile vigilante struggles in a city of ultimate corrupt to fight crime. Rather than creating a superhero that seems to always save the day at every appearance, Batman deals with real issues about how having a masked vigilante could make things worse, by luring villains like The Joker to unleash their talent to scheme just for pleasure.
The scriptwriter truly captures the essence of the relationship between Batman and Joker, and that they need each other to make their existence meaningful. I felt depressed that there is such a 'hopeless' societal city where being corrupt is the way of life. If I do ever live in this kind of city, I would have moved out long ago. But this is just fiction, a way of storytelling in order to deliver entertainment value, and at the same time teaches us some human values.
I'm not sure how the next Batman can continue to develop this human element. Or it could simply be a "Batman Saves The Day" flick, like what Tim Burton's previous Batman franchise did. Seriously, Tim Burton's version is family-friendly and has its values. Nowadays, it's harder to be good filmmakers because the audience expectations go up exponentially. With all the CGI-effects bombarding the cinematic world, how can you expect producers to make films that thrills audience and yet contains character depth?
Surprisingly, The Dark Knight does that. And it deserves to be on the fastest-grossing film of all time.

What he value most ?
A young man learns what's most important in life from the guy next door. It had been some time since Jack had seen the old man. College, girls, career, and life itself got in the way. In fact, Jack moved clear across the country in pursuit of his dreams. There, in the rush of his busy life, Jack had little time to think about the past and often no time tospend with his wife and son. He was working on his future, and nothing could stop him.
Over the phone, his mother told him, "Mr. Belser died last night. The funeral is Wednesday." Memories flashed through his mind like an old newsreel as he sat quietly remembering his childhood days.
"Jack, did you hear me?"
"Oh, sorry, Mom. Yes, I heard you. It's been so long since I thought of him. I'm sorry, but I honestly thought he died years ago," Jack said.
"Well, he didn't forget you. Every time I saw him he'd ask how you were doing. He'd reminisce about the many days you spent over 'his side of the fence' as he put it," Mom told him.
"I loved that old house he lived in," Jack said.
"You know, Jack, after your father died, Mr. Belser stepped in to make sure you had a man's influence in your life," she said.
"He's the one who taught me carpentry," he said. "I wouldn't be in this business if it weren't for him. He spent a lot of time teaching methings he thought were important...Mom, I'll be there for the funeral,"Jack said.
As busy as he was, he kept his word. Jack caught the next flight to his hometown. Mr. Belser's funeral was small and uneventful. He had no children of his own, and most of his relatives had passed away.
The night before he had to return home, Jack and his Mom stopped by to see the old house next door one more time.
Standing in the doorway, Jack paused for a moment. It was like crossing over into another dimension, a leap through space and time. The house was exactly as he remembered. Every step held memories. Every picture, every piece of furniture....Jack stopped suddenly.
"What's wrong, Jack?" his Mom asked.
"The box is gone," he said.
"What box? " Mom asked.
"There was a small gold box that he kept locked on top of his desk. I must have asked him a thousand times what was inside. All he'd ever tell me was 'the thing I value most,' " Jack said.
It was gone. Everything about the house was exactly how Jack remembered it, except for the box. He figured someone from the Belser family had taken it.
"Now I'll never know what was so valuable to him," Jack said. "I better get some sleep. I have an early flight home, Mom."
It had been about two weeks since Mr. Belser died. Returning home from work one day Jack discovered a note in his mailbox. "Signature required on a package. No one at home. Please stop by the main post office within the next three days," the note read.
Early the next day Jack retrieved the package. The small box was old and looked like it had been mailed a hundred years ago. The handwriting was difficult to read, but the return address caught his attention.
"Mr. Harold Belser" it read.
Jack took the box out to his car and ripped open the package. There inside was the gold box and an envelope. Jack's hands shook as he read the note inside.
"Upon my death, please forward this box and its contents to Jack Bennett. It's the thing I valued most in my life." A small key was taped to the letter. His heart racing, as tears filling his eyes, Jack carefully unlocked the box. There inside he found a beautiful gold pocket watch. Running his fingers slowly over the finely etched casing, he unlatched the cover.
Inside he found these words engraved: "Jack, Thanks for your time! Harold Belser."
"The thing he valued most...was...my time."
Jack held the watch for a few minutes, then called his office and cleared his appointments for the next two days. "Why?" Janet, his assistant asked.
"I need some time to spend with my son," he said.
"Oh, by the way, Janet...thanks for your time!"
take time off your busy schedule and think about the people in your life who've been all the time, listening to you, supporting you, playing a part in your life. remember the next time you talk to them, say " thank you for your time " b'cos it is their time that you are taking up and it is that time of theirs that you feel relaxed. no matter what happens, always remember the times that you've spent with your loved ones. for they are the one that always spurs you on no matter what happens. " thank you for your time "

A Quote about Praying
I love this quote from the movie "Evan Almighty". This is what Morgan Freeman (as God) said:
If someone prays for patience, you think God gives them patience? Or does he give them the opportunity to be patient? If he prayed for courage, does God give him courage, or does he give him opportunities to be courageous? If someone prayed for the family to be closer, do you think God zaps them with warm fuzzy feelings, or does he give them opportunities to love each other?
I'm always fascinated about destiny and whatever Higher Being whom some people strongly believe. To give a simple illustration, you might encounter some people who seem to always say things that aren't the most pleasant to hear. But do you wonder why you get to hear these words? Perhaps it was some pre-destined arrangement to forewarn you about some events, or a wake-up call about how you live your life.
Every action you take will indirectly affect someone I stay up late so that I can hear Mayenne's cries and put her to sleep before Angie hears it and gets up from her bed. I spend time capturing and editing photos so that my clients will see themselves good-looking and perhaps boost their confidence in life. I compose piano music and sell them in CD shops so that someone could buy them and play at home and make their newborn baby sleep better, resulting in better sleep for the parents too.
One of the things I've always wanted is to be wealthier. Now I think back and realised that I have been wealthy all my life. I remember a saying from my friend: "If a problem can be solved by money, then it is not a real problem." Although it sounds like some saying from the triad society, it makes perfect sense.
I need a HDB flat when I got married. I get one by getting a HDB loan and paying the mortgage via CPF.
I need a new car when I got my first kid. I get one by paying cash which I saved over the years.
Wealth is all about yourself. Even if you earn $20,000 a month, you might end up paying for the $3m house loan or the $200,000 luxury car or the $5,000 living expenses.
And in fact, I care about how you feel about your wealth, because, who knows, your state of happiness may indirectly affect mine too.
Live happy.

And in fact, I care about how you feel about your wealth, because, who knows, your state of happiness may indirectly affect mine too.
Live happy.

Piano Love Letters - Jazz & New Age
I found out about this album 2 years ago. Since then, I tried many means to get hold of the album, but this album is only available in Korea. I even asked friends and friends' friends who were going to Korea to help find the CD at shops, but to no avail. Ironically, this CD is readily available for sale on many Korean online websites!
Eventually, through Facebook, I found out that an ex-student from the ballet school, Sue-Ann, was there for a student exchange programme. I asked her to help, and she managed to get a copy! Today I finally met her to pass me the CD.

Why do I feel that I'm looking too much into this - hearing a voice that might not even exist?

Time flies so fast !
One year ago, I remembered going to Singapura Finance wanting to withdraw my matured fixed deposit amount, but was rejected because I went too late and the principal amount was already auto-committed for another year. If I were to terminate the account then, the penalty would be hefty. So I marked my calendar and told myself that one year later, I will close the FD. I even went to the branch 3 weeks before maturity and hope to request in advance for a standing order to send the principal amount in cheque. No, they said. Have to wait for maturity date.

The Black Knight
The follow-up to the action hit “Batman Begins,” “The Dark Knight” reunites director Christopher Nolan and star Christian Bale, who reprises the role of Batman/Bruce Wayne in his continuing war on crime.
With the help of Lieutenant Jim Gordon and District Attorney Harvey Dent, Batman sets out to destroy organized crime in Gotham for good. The triumvirate proves to be effective, but they soon find themselves prey to a rising criminal mastermind known as the Joker, who thrusts Gotham into anarchy and forces the Dark Knight ever closer to crossing the fine line between hero and vigilante.
Academy Award nominee Heath Ledger (“Brokeback Mountain”) stars as arch-villain The Joker, and Aaron Eckhart plays District Attorney Harvey Dent. Maggie Gyllenhaal joins the cast in the role of Rachel Dawes. Returning from “Batman Begins” are Gary Oldman as Lieutenant Jim Gordon; Oscar winner Michael Caine (“The Cider House Rules”) as Alfred; and Oscar winner Morgan Freeman (“Million Dollar Baby”) as Lucius Fox.

Hancock
There are heroes… there are superheroes… and then there’s Hancock (Will Smith). With great power comes great responsibility – everyone knows that – everyone, that is, but Hancock. Edgy, conflicted, sarcastic, and misunderstood, Hancock’s well-intentioned heroics might get the job done and save countless lives, but always seem to leave jaw-dropping damage in their wake. The public has finally had enough – as grateful as they are to have their local hero, the good citizens of Los Angeles are wondering what they ever did to deserve this guy. Hancock isn’t the kind of man who cares what other people think – until the day that he saves the life of PR executive Ray Embrey (Jason Bateman), and the sardonic superhero begins to realize that he may have a vulnerable side after all. Facing that will be Hancock’s greatest challenge yet – and a task that may prove impossible as Ray’s wife, Mary (Charlize Theron), insists that he’s a lost cause.
I dun really fancy superheros movie but thumbs up for this… some parts can be so hilarious.. Will Smith is really cool… should go watch this!!!

5. They're missing someone.
6. They're alone.
7. They have their period.
8. They're pregnant.
9. Their heart is broken.
10. They're in love.
11. Their souls have been torn.
12. They met a boy they can't have.
13. They fell in love with a boy.
14. They hurt so bad inside.
15. They're mad.
16. Something bad happened.
17. Just because they feel like
crying.
BOYS: If any girl you know is crying
and you see them, don't just stand
there and say you're sorry. Hold them
and tell them everything will be okay,
even if you have no idea what is wrong
with them, and kiss them softly, then
wipe their tears away. Girls just want
to be held and know that someone cares
about them.

1. Girls screw them over.
2. They just got hit in the balls.
3. They're about to die.
4. Their heart is broken.
5. Because they are true men.
GIRLS: If you see a guy crying, hug
him close and hold him up as he gets
over the pain of getting kicked in the
nuts. Tell him he's not going to die,
and if he's crying over a girl, hug
him && kiss him and let him know you
won't screw him over and break his
heart like the last girl did. Guys
just want to know that our girls will
be there for us to support us when we
need them and help us get our mind off
the pain of heartbreak, getting kicked
in the balls, and knowing we're
going to die.

GO LEARN PEOPLE!!

Shopping freat
Today went Tampines CPF building to reset my Singpass cos' stupid password failure lock out, so need to reset.
After that went shopping at Tampine area.
Got myself a Converse White Slipper that actually cost me $50.95
Then after bought it, because I am a existing converse member, so they gave me a mini converse shoe key-chain. But only 1 sided...
Cute right the shoe ? haha

Massive Earthquake in China Sichuan province
Almost the Everyday news was on The massive 7.9 magnitude earthquake that struck on China 'Sichuan' province when we switch the the TV ON SCV channel 52. (it was reported more on the Taiwan news; more details)It was really very sad to see all the tragic moment there, when the news reported that the death toll keep rising. In some towns most of the population was killed. Many students were buried under the rubble of which was once their schools. Sadness and Tears always filled my eyes, when i saw on news those very young kids who lost their parents and parents crying pitifully looking for kids. Seeing all the anxious parents sit quietly on piles of rubble overlooking the site, waiting for their loves one, watching the rescue effort and hoping for signs of survivors.
They have been standing vigil since the earthquake struck on Monday, but most know there is now little chance of finding their children alive. Hopes really fade for survivors after so many days.
Tens over thousands have died and estimation of twenty six thousands more are trapped under rubble, some already buried alive. Even those kids who was luckily survived, some even need to amputate their limbs in order to survive or their flesh actually ripped from their arms or body. I wonder how their lives will be in future without their limbs and parents around them? They are still so young, there is still such a long way for them. The Chinese government's response has been very good considering the huge area and number of people affected. Roads have been closed by landslides making it difficult to get aid into the worst affected areas.
China's government has been unusually open with information about the quake including posting up casualty numbers. But they have been very reluctant to allow outside (foreign) agencies in to help with this massive disaster initially. But with the current casualties numbers and death tolls rising, they should have accept help from other countries earlier, there would not be so much death around. After seeing the news, all i can say 'No one can ever predict what will happen next. Always cherish your loves one, before it' was too late'.

(Chorus)
May God Bless them !!!

I really think Li Nanxing, Wang Yuqing and Shen Jinxing were super duper handsome, alas now all morph into kopitiam uncles.
But I think they are still charismatic.
Chen Liping, Zeng Huifen, Lin Meijiao and Yang Libing were super beautiful also lah!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Zeng Huifen!
But last Saturday, I saw Chen Liping on the Star Awards thing, and she was GORGEOUS. OMG. I think she is ravishing lahhhh!! I also want to go for slimming like her. Hello my darling. Are you reading this? HAHAHA.
And when they were singing the theme songs for Hong Tou Jin lah.. Wu Suo Nan Yang lah.. I just teared! It's so spookily touching and it's like.. I dunno! I think it's cos I grew up watching shows like that.. and Jin Lan Jie etc.. so it's like I get teleported back to the days when I was a little girl and all the nostalgia blah.
But I felt quite gan kai when I saw Chen Meiguang on TV. To think once upon a time, she was this songbird with a strong voice, so gungho so charming in her own way, but that night at the Star Awards, she looked so frail and not sharp like she used to be.
Shi guo jing qian, ren shi yi fei!
All these old SBC shows.. (remember Ah Xue?! Or Feng Yu Chai Chuan Tou?!) had me hooked every day and night! But now.. the shows.. I totally cannot remember the last time I was hooked to a show.
Oh actually I can. It was Shen Diao Xia Lv, and that was in 1998!
The good'ol days of SBC (and a little of TCS)!
I know some of you would love this.

Before & After ???
Before and after, wow... really a big different.
Nothing to do today , so went around the internet and spotted these video.
Asian version
Korean Version
Why no Thai or Singaporean version!
I can so see who would be the finale in the Singaporean version.
Wonder who else would make the cut (pun!). Local community not too big after all!
=P
I want a new nose leh. But I scared end up like that.
I'd rather be ugly, than uglier!
