lian ai pin lui--Andy Hui & Evonne Hsu Hui Xin

3. :oh you light up my life
oh—you light up my life

Singapore got Silver medal for Table-tennis Woman !

YOU done us proud!!

Just Be it !

Maintaining a blog is a sure way to forge an online identity if you are serious to establish yourself on the World Wide Web.

It is easy to fake an identity, hiding behind a user name and run amok in your verbal actions as if you will never hurt anyone like you could in the real world.

But if you have a blog that runs for years, you are guaranteed to have international alibis - people who follow your blog for a long period of time, who reads and follows your life over the entire period. They will attest to your personality - good or bad.

The blog is a personal space where you can write whatever you want people to see you as (not necessarily your true self). But it's ironic how someone could pretend to have another personality when he or she is not in real person. Think about it: if you knew how to pretend to have another personality, why can't you be that person in real life? If you 'pretend' to be nice to people in blogs, wouldn't that be convenient to be just that person in real life?

So seriously, don't pretend. Just be who you are in blogs. Write what you feel, say what you think. Don't you think so too ?

NDP 2008'

Woo they did sing my One People One Nation after all, albeit not the whole song. But it's still the most kuakuakua parade I've seen. From make-up to costumes to props to the whole supposed forefathers thingie.

My favourite was the Teochew wayang aunty whose 'feeler' dropped out, and the four big lady singers who proved that big girls still rock.

*****

I think I am watching the lousiest NDP ever.

What happened to all my cheesy ching chong authentic National Day songs that always made my hair stand in full-fledged patriotism? The whole idea of a National Day song is to fill people's hearts with unwavering hope and confidence that the country is your home and your future is here blah blah leh. Jacinta's rendition of We Are Singapore is so lembek (not her fault per se) I don't see no lion roaring lor - kitty mewing more like it. Not to mention how disrespectful it is to the original songwriters lor. People spend so much effort coming up with all these patriot songs then you go and change until so lembek and niang. Foreigners hear already bu xiao si cai guai. This is not the way to showcase talents lor! I am of course happy our little dot-of-a-country has talents that can write beautiful harmonies but not at the expense of my ooomphy Count On Me Singapore or We Are Singapore!

I used to tear whenever they sang all these National Day songs leh. I don't care if they played the songs from tape and it's not the choir singing (which brings me to the next topic of when are they going to treat these choir people like humans and give them some costumes and props that are actually befitting for a performing choir at a grand event as such), but it's these songs that I grew up with and now I don't even get to hear it proper for even one time lor. National Day songs are supposed to make you feel so high and make you unpaisehly bellow along at the top of your cracked voice until your veins throb in your forehead!

I still say Stef Sun's We Will Get There is the best National Day theme song to date. Even now when it comes on in my iPod I will still feel fuzzy listening to it. Kit Chan's Home comes very close to it lah just that I'm more of a RAHRAHRAH HOYHOYHOY person when it comes to National Day.

(My parents are huddling at the window watching the planes fly pass with the flag.)
